Is Email really going away and replaced by Social Networking?

According to the COO of Facebook Sheryl Sanberg's statistic, only 11% of American teens email each day, and she claimed that Email is probably going away!

Well, it may reflect something change but "going away" is a bit much at the moment. However, Internet does always change the world and itself. From the macro-environment point of view, the rate of social and technology change are faster than the commerce, Government, Infastructure and natural envirnment, only slower than the change of pop culture; so if we want to be fit for today's and tomorrow's marketing, we have to keep monitoring the change and forecast the trend.

Sheryl Sanberg's talk is trying to promote Facebook more, but actually we should recognize the power that  behind, which is the getting strong of Social Networking, one of the interesting finding is people feel least annoying of advertisments in the facebook than in their email box, as Sheryl said, people "touch, reconnect and even to save life" through facebook; of course we cannot ignore this trend, but somehow, facebook will be going away someday, just like what she said about email, we should keep in mind that the change of Internet is unexpected.
